ALPHA Primer 9.2.10

Reports

Don’t worry your little head, ALPHA’s here again!

  • At ALPHA 19: System Crash, LIONS Fight Club director Anton Assault threw down the gauntlet: a six-man tag match at ALPHA 20 to decide who got to choose the next challenger for the King of Savage title!
  • This Saturday’s ALPHA 20 will be main-evented by a huge tag team match pitting three members of LFC -- King of Savage John Hurst, Nathan Rageous, and Josh Cameron -- against Alexander Shaw and two wrestlers he can find to team with him. With Barron Ulysses occupied, it seemed elementary that Shaw’s squad would consist of LFC expat D.R. Kongo and Just Wrestling Champion Dash Springfield. However, at ALPHA 19, Springfield’s run-in with the LFC seemed to take the fight out of him and he has informed the ALPHA head office and Shaw that he will not be participating! “That’s fine, if he feels the need to protect himself, so be it,” Shaw said. “This is our fight and we’ll go it alone if we have to.” Will Springfield change his mind or is this going to turn into a three-on-two handicap battle?
  • If there’s one man in ALPHA you don’t want to cross, it’s big Barron Ulysses. But Lex “21st Century” Fox has done just that, most recently raising the Buffalo native’s ire by preventing him from helping his team out in the main event of ALPHA 19. Ulysses sent a message to the ALPHA office: “Next week! Ulysses! Fox! In the ring!” ALPHA head office has listened to Ulysses and signed the match! At ALPHA 20, Ulysses will square off wit Lex Fox! Can Fox do what he’s been claiming and pin the big man, or will Ulysses teach him a lesson about crossing the Crush King?
  • It seems that Red Mountain Casino’s executives have a larger problem with Byron Maloka than can be solved with fines. RMC spokeswoman Chandra Taylor headed down to the ring after the six-man main event and gave the Royal Lancers a cricket bat, which they used in a vicious attack on Maloka’s legs! As a result, Maloka is out of action this week, though both he and Jackson have promised revenge.
  • The Royal Lancers, however, seem to be moving onto other concerns. “We are the best tag team in ALPHA,” Jay boasted. “And it’s time for us to prove that instead of wasting our time with pissants like the Surf Ninjas.” This Saturday, they’ll lock horns with the new team of Canada’s Finest, who are out to make a name for themselves coming off a victory against Doug Chase and Jake Landell at ALPHA 19.
  • Last week, Kevin Alloy offered $1,000 to the first person who could pick him up and slam him to the mat. Dash Springfield couldn’t do it, though he tried his hardest. This week, Alloy stands toe-to-toe with LFC’s Rodrigo De La Zed, who will try his luck when they face off in singles competition!
  • With the upcoming A+ special will also come several changes to the format of ALPHA’s weekly pay-per-views. First and foremost will be the addition of a two-man commentary team for every event. The ALPHA commentary booth will be manned by ALPHA co-dux Daniel Stann and local radio host Lanny McCorkle. More will be revealed on the new format in the weeks to come!
  • This Saturday is ALPHA 20: The Battle of Red Mountain, and we’ll decide the challenger for John Hurst’s King of Savage title! Will Alexander Shaw and D.R. Kongo have to fight an uphill battle? Plus, Lex Fox tries to make a name for himself againt Barron Ulysses, and we have two more great matches on tap! It’s only $7.99 for some of the hardest hitting, most electrifying wrestling action in the world today! Order now by calling 1 800 MOD ERNV or visiting www.modernvision.com today!

Show Report: ALPHA 19: System Crash 8.28.10

Reports

The heat on last Saturday’s ALPHA 19: System Crash was intense with the announcement of A+ to come in four weeks. Nobody was looking past this week, however, especially not the Surf Ninjas, Barron Ulysses, Lex Fox, and the Royal Lancers, who squared off in a huge six man tag main event! If you missed the show, don’t fret, just order it on demand by calling 1 800 MOD ERNV or visiting www.modernvision.com now!

Our fanatic fan reporter Charlie Reager came through with our report yet again!

ALPHA 12

System Crash

8.28.10

There look to be about 300 people in the arena tonight.

Daniel Stann came out to start the show. He announced that in four weeks, on September 25th, ALPHA would hold its first A+ special! A lot of changes would take place on the show, and to top it all off, the show would be main evented by a defense of the King of Savage title!

This brought out Anton Assault with an announcement of his own. He said that a challenger still needed to be named for his match at A+. Anton said that the two men he was considering were Josh Cameron and Nathan Rageous. Stann objected. Anton said he knew Stann was going to object, so he already thought of a compromise. Next week, a six-man tag match would take place: three LIONS vs. Alexander Shaw and whoever he can get together. If the LIONS won, Anton would choose the KoS challenger for A+. If Shaw’s militia won, Stann would choose. Shaw came out at this point, telling Stann to accept those terms. Stann seemed reluctant, but he said yes!

Proving Out: Javier Sikkan vs. Maurice Thompson
Thompson got the jump on Sikkan early on, putting his grappling skills to use in order to keep Sikkan from getting away from him. Thompson threw Sikkan over with a dragon screw, but before he could follow up Sikkan headed to the outside. Thompson followed him out, but Sikkan retreated inside the ring. Frustrated, Thompson headed back in, where Sikkan asserted control of the match. Sikkan used the ropes to his advantage, bouncing off them like a ping pong ball and laying in heavy attacks, keeping Thompson reeling. Sikkan hit the ropes, Thompson leapfrogged over, DROPKICKED SIKKAN ON THE REBOUND! 2! Thompson hooked Sikkan up, snap suplex! 2! Thompson tried for another, Sikkan spun out, savate kick to the jaw! SUPERKICK TO THE SIDE OF THE SKULL! LA QUEBRADA -- knees!

Thompson rolled out onto the apron, taking his time to recover. Once he saw Sikkan get to his feet, he jumped to the top rope, SPRINGBOARD CLOTHESLINE -- missed! Thompson landed on his feet, but Sikkan recovered more quickly, firing off rapid kicks to Thompson’s ribs. Snapmared Thomspon over, BUZZSAW KICK -- Thompson flattened to evade! MOONSAULT -- Thompson rolled away! Caught Sikkan in a cobra clutch, JOURNEY TO THE VALLEY (cobra clutch legsweep)! 2.7! Thompson sank in the full nelson. Sikkan groaned in pain, but it started to seem like he was enjoying himself! Thompson released the hold in disgust, Sikkan kicked Thompson in the forehead! Small package: 2.9! Both men shot to their feet, dropkick took Sikkan right back down! ARABIAN PRESS! 3!
Winner: Maurice Thompson by pinfall (Arabian press pin, 10:34)

Tag Team Scuffle, Eh?: Doug Chase & Jake Landell vs. Canada’s Finest (Eddie Traveller and Jean LaFrench)
Jake Landell and Eddie Traveller started the match off with quick exchanges and holds, but it wasn’t long before Landell fell victim to the polished tag team strategies of Canada’s Finest. Incorporating frequent tags and consistent punishment, Canada’s Finest picked Landell apart for the first several minutes, Landell managing to mount unsubstantial offense here and there. Jean LaFrench utilized his strength, frequently lifting Landell into various slams and suplexes, preventing the tag to Doug Chase whenever it was attempted. Any time that Landell showed fire, LaFrench or Traveller would work him back into their corner and slow him down again, the fresh Chase anxious for the tag. After some lengthy tag in/tag out work in the corner, LaFrench tagged himself in and dragged the smaller Landell to the center of the ring. He lifted Landell high into the air and drove him down with a massive brainbuster!

Chase managed to make it in long enough to break up the pin attempt that surely would have ended the match, but the referee quickly ejected him back to the apron, leaving a dazed Landell to fend for himself once more. LaFrench called in Traveller and the the two sent Landell to the ropes, poised for a double back body drop on the return. Landell quickly planed a kick to the chest of LaFrench and dropped Traveller with a beautiful high dropkick! Landell crawled toward Chase’s outstretched hand! LaFrench got back to Landell before he could make the tag and grabbed his foot. Landell hopped up to his free leg. LaFrench ducked an enziguri attempt, but Landell rolled through and made the tag to Chase! Chase shot through the ropes as Landell rolled to the apron exhausted. Chase came in full of energy and was able to bump LaFrench a few times, but LaFrench managed to tag in Traveller. Chase and Traveller went back and forth, but Traveller’s speed proved to be too much for Chase. With Chase tired, Traveller tagged LaFrench back in and Chase was worked over. LaFrench sent Chase into the ropes. Blind tag from Landell! Chase was leveled with a big boot to the face on the return. Landell climbed to the top rope but, thanks to the warning from Traveller, LaFrench saw him coming! Landell was caught out of the air in a vice grip bear hug! LaFrench walked backward towards his corner, absorbing weak shots to the head from Landell. Traveller slaps LaFrench’s back and climbs the ropes. LaFrench tightened the squeeze and Landell faded, his head dropping up and down slowly, disoriented. Traveller leaped from the ropes, FINEST FINISH (elevated bearhug/flying elbow smash)! LaFrench let the unconscious Landell fall to the mat so Traveller could make the cover. 3!
Winners: Canada’s Finest (Eddie Traveller+ and Jean LaFrench) by pinfall (Finest Finish on Landell, 13:06)

Beauty and the Beast: Dash Springfield vs. Kevin Alloy
Springfield kept his distance early on, but Alloy didn’t expend the energy giving chase. Springfield darted in to land a series of dropkicks that staggered Alloy but didn’t drop him. Springfield hit the ropes again, but this time Alloy rushed him and took him down with a heavy slap to the chest! Alloy slowed the match down considerably, taking the starch out of Springfield by brawling, keeping Springfield close to neutralize Springfield’s mobility. He muscled Springfield into the corner and unloaded with rights and lefts, big suplex out of the corner! 2! Alloy leaned against the ropes, HUGE SPLASH -- Springfield out of the way! Springfield waited for Alloy to get up and then cinched in the rear waistlock, GERMAN SUPLEX -- no way! Alloy didn’t budge! Springfield swung around, kneeing Alloy in the gut, HALF HATCH SUPLEX -- not a chance! Springfield clubbed Alloy over the back of the neck, tried it again, nothing! Springfield released the hold and dropkicked Alloy in the side of the head, sending the big man to a knee.

John Hurst, Nathan Rageous, and Josh Cameron headed down to the ring. Springfield and Alloy watched warily as they surrounded the ring. Just before they could close off all sides, Springfield slid out of the ring, shaking his head. Alexander Shaw and D.R. Kongo charged down to the ring, but Springfield didn’t stop, picking up his Just Wrestling Championship belt and heading to the back.
Winner: Kevin Alloy by count-out (5:31)

Hurst, Rageous, and Cameron jumped off the apron to confront Shaw and Kongo, resulting in a brawl. Kongo managed to roll Cameron into the ring and Shaw broke free to slide in as well, starting the match.

An Old Score: Alexander Shaw vs. Josh Cameron
Wasting no time, Shaw rained right hands down on Cameron’s head, forcing Cameron to cover up. Shaw controlled things on the ground for a while, but Cameron was able to turn the tables. Cameron was obviously seeking the gator roll, but Shaw blocked it at every turn. Cameron resorted to an osoto gari drop and a grounded headlock, but Shaw quickly got the ropes. Cameron threw knees at Shaw’s head, but Shaw weathered them, eventually breaking free and getting to his feet, jumping knee took Cameron to the mat! Shaw was extra aware of the LIONS outside the ring and attempted to end the match quickly, but he got sloppy, flubbing the falcon arrow, CAMERON SPIKED SHAW WITH A GERMAN SUPLEX! 2.5! GATOR ROLL -- shots to the stomach! Huge elbow shot!

(On the outside, Rageous and Hurst overcame Kongo’s valiant efforts and beat him down mercilessly. Once it looked as if Kongo wasn’t getting up, they turned their attention to the match.)

Both men recovered for a bit before getting back into it, throwing heavy hands before Cameron could return to his judo-style takedowns. Shaw fought back, getting an edge on Cameron by utilizing his stronger strikes and forcing Cameron into mistakes. Shaw did his best to keep away from the ropes, where Hurst and Rageous were waiting to trip him up. Shaw sunk in a front facelock, FALCON ARROW -- Cameron blocked! ROARING ELBOW! 2.6 -- ropes! Shaw dragged Cameron back to his feet, whipped him into the corner, reversed! Cameron charged in and Shaw surged out to catch him, tripped up by Hurst! GATOR ROLL CHOKE! Foot on the ropes! Cameron tried to keep Shaw to the mat, controlling him with a headlock, but Shaw managed to fight to one knee. Knees to the face from Cameron! Cinched him up for the gator roll again, Shaw lifted and slammed Cameron to the mat! STF! Cameron didn’t tap, enduring the hold for a long while before Shaw decided to give it up.

Shaw seemed to want to use the ropes several times for momentum, but the presence of Hurst and Rageous always dissuaded him. His preoccupation with the LIONS outside the ring gave Cameron the opportunity to get back into the fight, focusing on Shaw’s neck and head. He backed Shaw into the corner and choked him with his boot until the four count, at which point he snapmared Shaw out and grounded him with a side headlock. Shaw grabbed the ropes, which prompted Cameron to pull him off the mat. PILEDRIVER -- no go! Cameron rocked Shaw with a European uppercut, hooked him up for a snap suplex, Shaw blocked! FALCON ARROW -- landed! 2.8 -- Hurst rushed the ring! The referee called for the bell!
Winner: Alexander Shaw by disqualification (12:20)

Hurst and Rageous stomped the hell out of Shaw. Hurst signaled to Rageous, who hiked Shaw high into the air, RAMACHANDRA! Hurst then pulled Shaw up and hooked him up back suplex style. Kongo hit the ring with the chair and LFC scattered! Kongo was obviously still hurt, but he hung around to make sure that the LIONS didn’t come back to continue their assault.

Coalition Warfare: Royal Lancers (Jay and Stephen Mathers) & Lex Fox vs. Surf Ninjas (Byron Maloka and Brian Jackson) & Barron Ulysses
After a bit of dithering on the Lancers/Fox side, Fox and Maloka started things off. Both men kept the pace fairly quick for the opening moments, but Maloka always seemed to be just a hair ahead. Fox tagged out to Steve, whose power seemed to be a sufficient counter for Maloka. Both sides employed as much tagging as possible, though Ulysses didn’t get into the match at all in the opening minutes.

A series of tandem maneuvers from the Lancers kept Jackson down long enough for some near falls. The Lancers and Fox isolated Jackson from his unit, working him over in the corner. Jackson fought out and made the tag out to Maloka, who came in like a house of fire, taking out Steve and Fox, LARIAT FROM JAY FLIPPED MALOKA OVER! The Lancers/Fox team reasserted their control, baiting Ulysses and Jackson into getting into the ring and taking the ref’s attention so that they could choke Maloka out or get in a quick tandem suplex. Maloka’s heart prevented him from staying down for the three. Jay tagged Fox in, who went to work with chinlocks, keeping Maloka grounded and sapping him of energy. Fox brought Maloka to his feet, hit the ropes, ROLLBACK DRIVER -- Maloka got out of Dodge! Diving tag out to Ulysses! Fox was spooked and scrambled to tag out ot Jay!

Ulysses beat Jay down with crushing overhand blows, making it look easy. He sent Jay into the ropes and caught him with a shoulder block. Steve got a blind tag, but though his surprise dropkick staggered Ulysses, it didn’t take the big man off his feet. Ulysses began to make short work of Steve as well. He tossed Steve into the turnbuckle, HUGE CORNER SPLASH -- SMASHED HIM! Samoan drop! 2 -- Jay made the save! Jay tried to use the advantage he had, but Ulysses easily shrugged him off, then booted Steve to quit that surge of energy. Fox soared at Ulysses with a cross body block, caught! CRUSH RUSH -- Jay with the low blow! The ref didn’t see it! TANDEM BULLDOG FROM JAY AND FOX! Steve scrambled for the cover: 2 -- Ulysses pressed Steve into the air!

With the big buffalo shaken, the Lancers and Fox started using more of their tag strategy to get the edge, but it was still quite an uphill battle. A double lariat from Ulysses sent both Fox and Steve over the top rope, but Jay surprised Ulysses with a schoolboy: 2.5! Jay tried to employ Polish hammers to keep Ulysses down, but Ulysses rose despite it, catching Jay around the waist and PANCAKING HIM WITH A STANDING SPINEBUSTER! Tag out to Jackson, Ulysses hip tossed him over the ropes into a senton! Jackson tagged out to Maloka, Ulysses pressed Maloka high into the air, FROG SPLASH! Is that the fat lady!? 2.99 -- ropes! The Surf Ninjas went back on the attack, quick tags keeping them both fresh.

A whip reversal sent Jackson into enemy territory, where Steve and Fox both attacked him from the apron. Jay worked himself up and charged in, but Jackson dodged out of the way! Fox blind tagged in. Jackson leapt for the tag, got Ulysses! Once again, Fox was not eager to mix it up with the big man, but this time Ulysses wasn’t giving him much of a choice. Ulysses charged in, Fox slid underneath, dropkick to the back! Fox darted around and tagged in Steve, SLINGSHOT CROSSBODY -- headbutt to the gut! Ulysses whipped Steve into his team’s corner and followed him in with a huge shoulder to the stomach! Jackson tagged in and suplexed Steve out of the corner. 2.7!

Jackson seemed a bit worn down at this point, slow in capitalizing, and this gave Steve a chance to fight back. They brawled a bit, but Jackson secured a headlock and made it back to his corner where Maloka tagged in. TANDEM SUPLEX! Maloka springs to the top, SLINGSHOT MOONSAULT! Gotta be it! 2.8 -- Jay broke it up! It took Maloka a bit to get Steve back to his feet, but when he did, he whipped Steve into the ropes. Blind tag from Jay! HURACANRANA SNAPPED STEVE TO THE MAT! The referee wasn’t counting! Maloka realized what’s happening and got up just as Jay rushed the ring, RAF HURRICANE SNAPPED MALOKA IN HALF! 2.8 -- Jackson made the save! Fox sprinted across the ring, TACKLED ULYSSES THROUGH THE ROPES AND TO THE FLOOR! Jackson backed Jay into a corner and unloaded with right hands, Steve with a German suplex! Steve stepped out onto the apron, tagged in, Jay pulled Maloka up onto his shoulders, DEATH OR GLORY! (powerbomb/flying leg lariat) Count to 100! 3!
Winners: Royal Lancers (Jay and Stephen+ Mathers) & Lex Fox by pinfall (Death or Glory on Maloka, 32:57)

On the outside, Ulysses fed Fox stiff shots that had Fox fleeing back up the ramp, stumbling as best he could with his head spinning so fast. Inside, Jay tossed Jackson out of the ring. Chandra Taylor made her way down carrying a cricket bat. She got into the ring and handed it to Steve. Jay held Maloka’s legs while Steve wailed away with the bat, Taylor scolding and shouting at Maloka the whole while.

ALPHA Primer 8.26.10

Primers

My name is ALPHA, for we are many.

  • ALPHA officials, co-despots Daniel Stann and Anton Assault, and Red Mountain Casino have an incredible announcement to make. September 25th, ALPHA will hold its first A+ spectacular! At the moment, very little about the show is concrete, but one thing is for sure: the King of Savage title will be defended! The coming weeks should shed some more light about this upcoming card.
  • Speaking of blockbuster announcements, the main event for ALPHA 19 is a doozy! For quite a while now, the Royal Lancers have been on the payroll of Red Mountain Casino, trying to take out the premises-damaging but crowd-approved Surf Ninjas at every turn, even attacking them with a cricket bat at ALPHA 17! At the same time, Lex Fox seeks to prove his worth by being the first man to pin Barron Ulysses one-on-one, an obsession that has driven him to interfere in several of the big Buffalo native’s matches. This Saturday, these two feuds will share the same ring, as Barron Ulysses teams up with the Surf Ninjas to take on the Royal Lancers and Lex Fox in six man tag action!
  • In response to Brian Jackson’s crowd-diving antics at ALPHA 18, Red Mountain Casino fined him $200. This sum was promptly paid by Byron Maloka’s Danger Kid Fund. We have heard that the Casino is becoming increasingly frustrated with the Fund subverting their attempts to penalize the Surf Ninjas and may be calling for increased measures on the part of the Royal Lancers to deal with the problem.
  • “Killdozer” Kevin Alloy is currently one for one in ALPHA competition, his loss coming in a tag match with Andre Miller against the Surf Ninjas, Byron Maloka and Brian Jackson. He doesn’t intend to make the mistake of putting his reputation on the line in a tag match again anytime soon, though. To make the idea of facing the superheavyweight Alloy a little sweeter, he put something else on the line in a recent promo posted to YouTube.
  • Just Wrestling Champion Dash Springfield is back in the hearts and minds of the wrestling world at large, right where he likes it. Last week, he put away Javier Sikkan in a hard-fought match, and he also rose to #10 in the Primetime Central rankings! But for all those accolades, can he move the immense “Killdozer” Kevin Alloy? He’ll have to find a way to deal with that bulk this Saturday as they go toe-to-toe in singles competition!
  • In what has to be called an upset victory, Maurice Thompson defeated LIONS F.C.‘s Rodrigo De La Zed at ALPHA 18. Despite the post-match attack from DLZ, Thompson’s got to stay focused, as Javier Sikkan is looking to redeem himself and seeks to so so against Thompson. Two weeks ago, the two teamed up, so Sikkan is familiar with the newcomer’s tricks, and Thompson with the veteran’s. Was the win over DLZ just beginner’s luck, or can Thompson keep rolling with his momentum?
  • More exciting news comes down the pike today as we are excited to announce a new signing! The team of Eddie Traveller and Jean LaFrench, collectively known as Canada’s Finest, will be making themselves known to us at ALPHA 19 where they’ll take on Jake Landell and Doug Chase! They’d better be dressed to impress, because Landell and Chase will be out to win!
  • For some reason, training at Camp Savage did not bring D.R. Kongo and Josh Cameron closer together. In fact, if the events of ALPHA 18 are any indication, it made them bitter rivals even before ALPHA’s debut. Now things are reaching a rolling boil, and though the two didn’t come to blows at The Long Haul, their words were just as deadly. A clip of the altercation was posted to the ALPHA YouTube channel.
  • Before the war between Alexander Shaw’s band of gypsies and the LIONS Fight club erupted, Shaw and LION Josh Cameron had a few in-ring confrontations. Though Shaw has beaten Cameron in three-way threats, he hasn’t been able to best Cameron in a one-on-one competition. This week he gets a chance to redeem that early loss and score a victory for his side against the LIONS. It’s not going to be easy, however. Cameron’s fearsome gator roll choke cannot simply be outlasted, and if he gets Shaw with it, it’s very likely over!
  • The war between Alexander Shaw and LIONS F.C. takes a back seat this week, as two other grudges get the main stage at ALPHA 19: System Crash! The six-man main event pits the Royal Lancers and Lex Fox against their enemies the Surf Ninjas and Barron Ulysses. However, the war is far from over! To catch every bit of the rough-and-tumble wrestling action, you’ve gotta order it now! Only $7.99! Call 1 800 MOD ERNV or visit www.modernvision.com to order!

Show Report: ALPHA 18: The Long Haul 8.21.10

Reports

The running gunfight between Alexander Shaw’s group and the LIONS Fight Club doesn’t seem like it’s going to end any time soon, especially if the events of last Saturday’s ALPHA 18: The Long Haul are any indication! All the LIONS (except club pariah D.R. Kongo) were in action that night to prove that they were still strong despite Shaw’s pressure. Did they succeed, or did they just show more chinks in their armor? The only way to know is to see the show! If you missed it, you can order it on demand by calling 1 800 MOD ERNV or visiting www.modernvision.com right now!

The show’s recap was provided by Charlie Reager, as always.

ALPHA 18

The Long Haul

8.21.10

There seemed to be somewhere over 300 people tonight, maybe about 320 or 330.

Daniel Stann was out first as usual to run down the card for the audience. D.R. Kongo’s appearance interrupted him and we had an impromptu interview. Kongo said that he wanted to talk about the LIONS Fight Club. He said he was still loyal to the LION spirit, he just wasn’t loyal to John Hurst or Anton Assault. He called them disgraces and said the entire reason he was fighting against the LFC was to show that he deserved to be a LION based on his merits as a wrestler, not on how well he kissed ass.

This brought out Josh Cameron, who said Kongo had no right to talk about the LFC that way. Cameron said that ever since he’d seen Kongo acting out like he was something special without earning it, he’d dedicated himself to putting Kongo out of commission. Cameron said that Kongo would get to be a full LION over his dead body. Kongo said that could be arranged. Cameron smirked ominously and headed to the back.

Rodrigo De La Zed emerged from the back as Kongo was heading backstage. DLZ purposefully bumped Kongo aside. Kongo restrained himself from attacking.

Fight for the Future: Rodrigo De La Zed vs. Maurice Thompson
Thompson started things off with a lot of energy, but DLZ weathered the blows and came back with fire of his own. The match went back and forth between them, each man claiming the upper hand for a moment and scoring a near fall. Thompson started picking up the pace, taking DLZ off balance. He hooked DLZ up, THE FUTURE IS NOW -- elbows to the skull from DLZ! Vertical suplex! 2! DLZ took control of the match after that, keeping things on the ground mostly and cranking Thompson’s neck. Thompson fought valiantly, managing to interrupt DLZ’s progress by getting the ropes several times, but DLZ refused to give Thompson a clean break. Back on their feet, DLZ shot Thompson into the ropes. He whiffed the lariat, then turned around, caught Thompson on his back, ALABAMA SLAM -- sunset flip! 2! Both men scrambled to their feet, DLZ ate a dropkick!

Thompson did his best to keep the momentum on his side, practically flying around the ring to keep DLZ off guard, constantly seeking the win. DLZ seemed stunned, but he never stopped getting back up. Thompson scored with the springboard clothesline! 2.7! Thompson slapped the mat and went up to the top. FLIGHT THROUGH THE WORLD (moonsault) -- knees! DLZ slapped on a camel clutch, wrenching back hard. He focused his attack on Thompson’s neck, using heavy blows as well as headlocks. DLZ shot Thompson into the ropes and caught him with a jumping yakuza kick! 2.5! Alabama slam! 2.8! He sent Thompson into the ropes, Thompson leapt forward and rolled DLZ up with a schoolboy! 3! DLZ was shocked!
Winner: Maurice Thompson by pinfall (schoolboy pin, 7:39)

As Thompson celebrated, DLZ attacked him from behind. Capture suplex! RAVAILLAC! DLZ reared back on the clutch until Alexander Shaw charged out for the save! DLZ bailed into the crowd, sneering victoriously.

Another Tidal Wave: Surf Ninjas (Byron Maloka and Brian Jackson) vs. Kevin Alloy & Andre Miller
Jackson and Miller started things off with some basic wrestling. As Miller began to wrestle his way to the advantage, Jackson managed a tag out to Maloka and the Ninjas used their combined skills to control the match. Miller found himself on the receiving end of tandem suplexes, dropkicks, and lariats, but somehow always found the resolve to kick out of pins. Miller was on spaghetti legs as Maloka opened him up with chop after chop. Maloka hit the ropes, BRUCE LEE KICK -- Miller dove out of the way! Miller started to crawl to Alloy, Maloka grabbed his feet, Miller kicked away! Tag out to Alloy! Alloy bowled Maloka over easily!

Maloka and Jackson still had the upper hand as far as tagging in and out was concerned, but they barely seemed to shake the bulky Alloy. Each of them tasted a heavy lariat or back elbow from Alloy, putting them down to the mat for near falls. With Jackson in the ring, Alloy began to assert his control, sending Jackson into the corner and giving him two huge corner splashes. POWERBOMB -- Jackson held onto the ropes! Jackson started to throw some rights, but Alloy wasn’t fazed. Headbutt from Alloy! CLUBBING LARIAT! 2.7 -- Maloka saved with the springboard legdrop! Miller tagged in. Belly-to-belly suplex! ALLOY CRUSHED JACKSON WITH A HUGE SPLASH! Miller covered! 2.9 -- Maloka saved again!

Maloka was begging for the tag at this point, but Miller wasn’t making it easy, controlling Jackson with basic holds and throws. Miller hit the ropes and came back with a flying leg lariat, but Jackson ducked under! Tag out to Maloka! SPRINGBOARD CROSSBODY! 2.5! Maloka’s fresh energy and speed was too much for Miller, giving Jackson enough time to recover that the Ninjas could resume their teamwork. Jackson with a DDT! Tag out to Maloka! Jackson charged across the ring and knocked Alloy off the apron with a dropkick! JACKSON SOARED OFF THE TOP ROPE AND COLLIDED WITH ALLOY ON THE OUTSIDE! Alloy barely dumped Jackson over the barricade as he slumped to the ground. Inside, Maloka sent Miller into the corner, DRILLED HIS CHEST WITH A BRUCE LEE KICK! 3!
Winners: Surf Ninjas (Byron Maloka+ and Brian Jackson) by pinfall (Bruce Lee Kick on Miller, 14:50)

An incensed Chandra Taylor appeared from the back, chastising the Surf Ninjas for their recklessness. She said that next week she had something “special” in store for the Ninjas.

The Train and the Tank: Nathan Rageous vs. Barron Ulysses
Rageous and Ulysses stood toe to toe for a second until Ulysses told Rageous to hit the ropes. Rageous did so, charging into Ulysses but finding himself unable to move the bigger man. He tried three more times, each with the same result. Next Ulysses hit the ropes and shoulder blocked Rageous to the mat! They tested their strength against each other for a while, but it was clear that Ulysses had the advantage in this regard. A few right hand shots from Rageous knocked Ulysses off balance. Rageous used the opportunity to hit the ropes for some extra momentum, SPEAR -- Ulysses lifted his knee into Rageous’s jaw! He threw Rageous into the corner, CRUSHED HIM WITH A LARIAT!

Control of the match was solidly in Ulysses’s hands from this point on and he threw Rageous around the ring like he was nothing. Rageous started to cut some corners, backing against the ropes to buy himself some time, clipping Ulysses’s heels, but at most he got himself a few seconds before a sledge-like right hand from Ulysses knocked Rageous for a loop. CRUSH RUSH -- Rageous frantically fought his way out! Rageous hit the ropes, flying shoulder tackle! Ulysses stumbled but didn’t fall! Rageous tried for a belly-to-belly suplex, but Ulysses smashed his way free. Thumb to the eye! The referee got in Rageous’s face as Ulysses rubbed his eye. Lex Fox took advantage of the distraction, leaping over the barricade! LAPTOP SHOT TO ULYSSES’S SKULL! The ref called it!
Winner: Barron Ulysses by disqualification (9:21)

Just Competition: Dash Springfield vs. Javier Sikkan
Springfield came down to the ring with the Just Wrestling Championship over his shoulder.

Sikkan started out strong, taking advantage of Springfield’s smugness to do a world of damage. Springfield tried to get his head back in the game but Sikkan gave him very little chance to recuperate, as seemingly in every situation Sikkan had a weapon to use. After a few minutes of punishment, Springfield headed to the outside. A baseball slide from Sikkan knocked Springfield into the barricade. SIKKAN CRASHED INTO SPRINGFIELD WITH AN ASAI MOONSAULT! He rolled Springfield back into the ring and went for the cover. 2.6! SIKKAN WITH THE SLINGHOT MOONSAULT -- knees! Springfield rolled back out of the ring, going to a knee to breathe. Sikkan followed Springfield out, but Springfield recovered enough to send Sikkan into the rails and dropkick him over into the crowd! Now Springfield headed into the ring to keep his recovery going.

Sikkan eventually made it back to the ring and Springfield wasted no time in attacking him, stomping Sikkan’s arm heavily. Sikkan tried to roll out of the ring, but Springfield trapped his arm, pulling it hard against the corner of the ring. Springfield followed Sikkan back out of the ring and rammed Sikkan’s arm against the ringside a few times before sending him back in. Sikkan tried to put some distance between himself and Springfield, but Springfield closed quickly, battering Sikkan with chops. Divorce courted the arm! Springfield climbed to the second rope and dove off with a kneedrop to Sikkan’s shoulder! Locked on the seated armbar! Sikkan refused to tap, even grinning fiendishly as he endured (enjoyed?) the pain.

Springfield eventually gave the hold up, bringing Sikkan to his feet. He hooked Sikkan’s arm around the top rope, testing the five-count as he attempted to pull Sikkan’s arm out of the socket. Sikkan fought back with kicks to Springfield’s side, eventually freeing himself enough to throw a jumping back kick into Springfield’s mouth! Sikkan dumped Springfield onto his back with a back body drop and then scaled the ropes, TOP ROPE SENTON -- GOT IT! 2.5! Springfield and Sikkan went back and forth, Springfield wrenching or attacking the arm to get the advantage for a while before Sikkan exploded with a big move to put Springfield down. Springfield’s armwork seemed to be getting more traction as time wore on, though. Feeling confident, Springfield hung Sikkan over the top rope and hit the ropes. Sikkan slipped out of the position, springboarded off the top rope, HURACANRANA -- SHOULDER BREAKER! Seated armbar! Sikkan couldn’t hold on this time, tap out!
Winner: Dash Springfield by submission (seated armbar, 17:28)

The Unconquerable Game: LIONS F.C. (John Hurst and Josh Cameron) vs. Royal Lancers (Jay and Stephen Mathers)
Cameron and Steve started things off in a conventional wrestling manner, trading holds and seeking the set-up for a bigger opportunity. Cameron pushed Steve into the Lancers’ corner and Jay blind tagged in, firing shots at Cameron’s abdomen. Jay’s size and power gave him the edge against Cameron and he used it to its fullest, employing heavy throws to take the wind out of Cameron. Cameron managed to turn the tables on Jay, executing a neat shoulder throw and locking on a cross armbreaker. Jay managed to shimmy to his corner where he made a tag out to Steve, who broke the hold up with a slingshot elbow drop! Hurst quickly got the referee’s attention, allowing Cameron to swing his leg back into Steve’s nethers and leap across the ring for the tag!

Hurst took the fight to Steve immediately, throwing huge kicks that drilled the wind out of Steve’s body. Steve rocked Hurst with a few shots, but when he hit the ropes to hit a bigger move, Hurst followed him in and obliterated him with a spinning backfist! 2! Hurst tagged in Cameron and the two LIONS took the fight to Steve, manipulating the ref so they could choke Steve on the ropes. Several times Jay tried to intervene, but this only distracted the ref further, allowing Hurst and Cameron to do more damage to Steve. Hurst rained rough right hands onto Steve’s skull, dizzying Steve as a lead-up to the fisherman’s suplex! 2.7 -- Jay broke it up! Cameron tried to attack Jay, but Jay quickly exited the ring.

Despite the save, Steve was still in no shape to stand up to Hurst’s further assault. Hurst sent Steve into the ropes, but Steve reversed it, and Jay smashed Hurst in the back of the head with a forearm! The ref admonished Jay, but Steve still managed to make the tag. BIG TANDEM SUPLEX! 2! Jay locked in a camel clutch. Cameron stepped through the ropes, but Jay pointed him out and the referee got in his face. The Mathers boys utilized frequent fake tags to inflict the Pillory on Hurst, Jay holding in the clutch while Steve teed off with kicks to the face, or Steve wrenching it in while used running stomps. Finally their luck ran out and the ref noticed them. Steve tagged Jay back in, SANDWICHED HURST WITH LARIATS! JAY SPIKED HIM WITH A BRIDGING GERMAN! 2.5 -- Cameron saved! Steve ejected Cameron from the ring! The Lancers continued to dominate, putting the boots to Hurst, wearing him down with their two-on-one assault. Cameron fetched the King of Savage belt and slid it into the ring, rushing to another side and jumping on the apron, yelling at the ref and taking his attention. Hurst seized the belt, CRACK! Nailed Jay with it! Shot number two for Steve! Hurst tossed the belt out of the ring, pulled Steve off the canvas, ICARUS! He bridged! 3!
Winners: LIONS F.C. (John Hurst+ and Josh Cameron) by pinfall (Icarus pin on Stephen M., 18:30)

Hurst and Cameron gloated in the ring after their win. Shaw and Kongo jumped the barrier and slid into the ring! They spun Hurst around, sandwiched his head between an elbow shot and a superkick! Cameron tried to intervene, STRONG KICK TOOK HIS HEAD OFF! Kongo wasn’t done, FULL NELSON FACEBUSTER! Kongo tried to continue his assault, but Shaw pulled him away just as Rageous and DLZ hit the ring. Shaw shouted “guerrilla warfare!” as he and Kongo made their exit through the crowd.

ALPHA Primer 8.18.10

Primers

I shot a man in ALPHA just to watch him die.

  • The battle over the King of Savage seems far from over. Last week, only Alexander Shaw and D.R. Kongo were available to fight the LIONS Fight Club, but they still managed to win their tag match against Nathan Rageous and Josh Cameron before being run off by John Hurst and Rodrigo De La Zed. Shaw has been unreachable since, but given his actions up to this point, it’s hard to believe that he will be silent come Saturday.
  • It seems that both King of Savage John Hurst and LIONS Fight Club director (and ALPHA co-commissioner) Anton Assault want to demonstrate that they are committed to competition. ALPHA head office has received word that a title match will be signed for next week. No news on who will be challenging for the belt.
  • Dash Springfield’s Atlantic excursion was a success! At the Atlantic Wrestling Club’s All Summer Long pay-per-view, Springfield defeated Jonathan Carcer to retain the Just Wrestling Championship! This weekend he’ll be taking on perennial rival Javier Sikkan in singles action. Though they hold wins over one another, Springfield has never pinned Sikkan personally. Can Sikkan prove he truly is better than the Just Wrestling Champion?
  • An obsession is growing in one Lex Fox. It’s clear that he is becoming overwhelmed by the idea of proving himself through defeating Barron Ulysses. This week, Ulysses is pulling his weight in the war against LIONS Fight Club by squaring off with Nathan Rageous. Will looking over his shoulder cost Ulysses the match and put a stop to his rampage?
  • Everybody’s trying to make a name for themselves in ALPHA and Maurice Thompson is no different. So far, Thompson is one for one in AAA competition, taking the fall last week when he teamed with Javier Sikkan to take on the Surf Ninjas. This week, Thompson cuts his teeth against the LIONS Fight Club when he takes on Rodrigo De La Zed.
  • Speaking of the Surf Ninjas, they debuted with a big win, but their post-match celebration was ruined by the appearance of the Royal Lancers in a violent mood. The Ninjas remain undaunted going into this week’s battle with Kevin Alloy and Andre Miller, confident that they’ll come out on top. Alloy’s dominating performance against Doug Chase should give anyone pause, however. We’ll see if the Ninjas’ confidence is simply foolishness.
  • The Royal Lancers will have their hands full when they take on LIONS Fight Club’s Josh Cameron and the King of Savage John Hurst. Hurst told us that he has “moved on” from Alexander Shaw, that he doesn’t consider Shaw a threat, and that he’s concentrating on other opposition. With Hurst’s eye supposedly off of Shaw and squarely on the Lancers, it will be interesting to see if the Lancers can put up a challenge. The Lancers have never managed to beat a Hurst-led LFC team. This is their chance to turn it all around.
  • ALPHA is still looking for talent! Independent wrestlers across the country, across the world, look to ALPHA if you want a steady paycheck and perhaps the greatest exposure you’ll ever get on the independent scene! Red Mountain Casino executives have expressed interest in tag teams, but rest assured that all applications will be considered! Send your application in today!
  • At this Saturday’s ALPHA 18: The Long Haul, there will be little chance for redemption. There will be five great matches, over an hour of the best wrestling you’re going to see anywhere in the world today, but the feuds that have been boiling within ALPHA will only continue to heat up. Anything can happen on a night like this, so be sure not to miss it! Call 1 800 MOD ERNV or visit www.modernvision.com to order!

Show Report: ALPHA 17: The First Defense 8.14.10

Reports

We are now living in the Era of Savage, and last night was ALPHA 17: The First Defense! Who was handpicked by King of Savage John Hurst to challenge him for the belt? Did somebody pull double duty? Maybe an outside name? And how did his nemesis Alexander Shaw take it, given that Hurst guaranteed that neither Shaw nor his compatriots would ever get a shot at the King of Savage title? The answer to all these questions can only be found in the show itself! If you missed it, don’t fret! Just order it on-demand by calling 1 800 MOD ERNV or visiting www.modernvision.com NOW!

But, as always, our recap is provided by the one and only Charlie Reager!

ALPHA 17

The First Defense

8.14.10

There were about 300 people in attendance tonight.

Surf’s Up!: Surf Ninjas (Byron Maloka and Brian Jackson) vs. Javier Sikkan & Maurice Thompson
Jackson and Thompson started things off. They locked up and Thompson got the better end of it with an armbar, but Jackson freed himself after some right hands. The match went back and forth that way, Thompson matching his speed and technicality against Jackson’s endurance and wild brawling. Thompson began to pull the upper hand, throwing a series of dropkicks that took Jackson off his feet and cinching in a rear chinlock. Thompson and Sikkan began to exchange tags, focusing their attention on Jackson’s ribs. Finally, Jackson managed to tag out to Maloka, who took Sikkan down with a slingshot crossbody! Thompson threw a spinning wheel kick, but Maloka ducked it, Pele kick landed flush! Sikkan made to intervene, but Jackson yanked on Sikkan’s hair and sent him to the mat!

Maloka immediately increased the pace of the match, but Sikkan kept up, the two speed demons trading holds and zipping across the ring almost faster than could be followed. Time proved to be Maloka’s ally, for as Sikkan began to falter, Maloka picked up the slack. The Ninjas tagged in and out, giving Jackson the opportunity to throw around some heavier moves between Maloka’s nimble attacks. Maloka and Sikkan traded near-falls, each one chaining right into the next. Finally, both men escaped, Sikkan to his feet first, BUZZSAW KICK! Tag out to Thompson, whipped Maloka into the ropes, TANDEM DROPKICKS! 2.7 -- Jackson saved!

Thompson was proactive in asserting himself, working over Maloka’s legs in an effort to slow the Danger Kid down. Maloka fought back, and though he was feeling a little pain now, he managed to increase the pace once again. Thompson responded by flooring Maloka and tagging in Sikkan. Thompson and Sikkan resumed their tag work, slowing Maloka further with wishbone splits and kneedrops to the knee. Thompson hit the ropes, caught Maloka and DRILLED HIM WITH A DDT! 2.9 -- Jackson broke it up! Sikkan into the ring, but Jackson sent him through the ropes! Jackson begged for the tag, got it! Thompson and Jackson traded blows, TOMAHAWK CHOP! Dropkick -- blocked! Jackson with a desperate punt to Thompson’s mouth! THA WRECKA! Sikkan tried to get back into the ring but Maloka cut him off with a somersault senton off the apron! 3!
Winner: Surf Ninjas (Byron Maloka and Brian Jackson+) by pinfall (Tha Wrecka on Thompson, 14:36)

The Royal Lancers appeared after the match, Jay Mathers with a microphone and Stephen with a cricket bat. Jay made fun of the Ninjas’ team name, then congratulated them on winning “without any of that damage causing monkeyish bullshit you’re so fond of.” He said that it didn’t matter, though, because everybody knew that next week Maloka would be back to creating problems for the Casino, and the Lancers couldn’t allow that. The Lancers advanced on the ring, surrounding it. Jay jumped up on the apron and Jackson attacked him. Maloka turned, but Steve clipped him in the shins with the cricket bat! Steve pulled Maloka out of the ring, attacking his legs viciously with the bat. Jay threw Jackson onto the floor, ELBOW DROP OFF THE APRON! The Lancers gloated over the fallen bodies of the Ninjas.

Exceeding Expectations: Jake Landell vs. Kevin Alloy
The size difference was overwhelming to Landell from the start of this match, Alloy daring him throw the first punch. Landell looked for openings, actively trying to get ahold of one of Alloy’s legs, but came up with nothing. After some taunting, Alloy lifted his hand to signal for the test of strength. Landell tentatively locked his hand with Alloy’s. Kick to the gut! Alloy lured Landell in for a cheap shot to the stomach, followed by a stiff short arm lariat. The next several minutes of the match brought more of the same: Alloy overpowering and bullying the much smaller Landell. Alloy took special focus to work the body, leaving Landell grounded and slow, unable to utilize any of his strengths. Any time Landell managed to score any shots, Alloy would go back to the body and slow him down again. The big man finished off the body work with an avalanche splash followed by a series of clubbing punches while Landell was pressed into the corner.

Alloy signaled that the fight was about to be over and set Landell up for the Last Trip to Tulsa! Landell slid out of the suplex set-up and grabbed Alloy in a back waistlock. Landell managed to push Alloy into the ropes for the O’Connor roll! Alloy hung on to the ropes! Alloy threw a solid elbow to Landell’s face that broke the back waistlock. After stumbling back a few steps, Landell met the charging Alloy with some hard shots to the stomach and face, none of which seemed to bother Alloy. Alloy planted a knee into Landell’s ribs and hit him with a bell clap that rocked him back against the ropes. Landell bounced back from the ropes, bloody-nosed and beaten, then Alloy grabbed both sides of his head before driving into his skull with a vicious headbutt that sent Landell crumbling to the mat! Alloy picked Landell up and, not bothering to call for it this time, slammed him to the mat with the Last Trip to Tulsa! 3!
Winner: Kevin Alloy by pinfall (Last Trip to Tulsa, 7:23)

A Shot at Greatness: Barron Ulysses vs. Lex Fox
Fox seemed apprehensive to start, but Ulysses was content to wait for Fox to make the first move. Fox darted in, Ulysses whiffed a lariat, Fox LIFTED FOR THE GERMAN -- actually, no he didn’t! He couldn’t move Ulysses! Stiff back elbow sent Fox stumbling into the corner in disbelief! Fox resumed his circling, having to deal with Ulysses beating his chest and roaring. Fox inexplicably offered a test-of-strength knucklelock. Ulysses acquiesced, first with his right, but Fox immediately kicked Ulysses in the knee! Fox only gloated for a second as Ulysses immediately twisted the wrist, making Fox stand up on his toes in pain! Ulysses seized Fox by the throat as well and hurled him back into the corner, LARIAT -- Fox barely out of the way! Ulysses didn’t stop his rampage, cornering Fox and clubbing him against the ropes with heavy lefts and rights, forcing Fox to cover up. The ref frantically tried to separate them. Fox thumbed Ulysses’s eye! He shoved the ref aside, BOOT LOADER! 2.5 -- Ulysses pressed Fox off of him!

Now with some momentum, Fox was loathed to give it up, peppering the rising Ulysses with kicks and punches. He hit the ropes and dropkicked Ulysses in the knee, making sure Ulysses wouldn’t stand for too long. Fox locked in a rear chinlock, cinching it in as hard as possible, but it wasn’t enough to stop Ulysses from getting up, even with Fox’s weight on his back! Ulysses smashed Fox back into the buckles. LARIAT -- Fox evaded again! Fox bailed to the floor to buy himself some time, looking up at Ulysses and trying to figure out what to do. He eventually rolled back into the ring, but now Ulysses was in attack mode, charging across to deliver punishment. Fox managed to keep his distance for the most part, finding shots wherever he could and keeping Ulysses off balance. Fox hit the ropes, LARIAT TOOK FOX’S HEAD OFF! Ulysses stared down at Fox for a few seconds, full of anger. He pulled Fox up by the hair and swung him onto his shoulder, CRUSH RUSH! 3!
Winner: Barron Ulysses by pinfall (Crush Rush pin, 12:35)

John Hurst made his way to the ring with the King of Savage belt over his shoulder. He said that people have been talking behind their backs about how he won the belt, saying he isn’t going to be a fighting champion. Tonight, he would prove them all wrong by putting his belt up against a tough competitor who, unlike all Hurst’s critics like Alexander Shaw, had not been beaten by Hurst already. He then introduced the challenger… Doug Chase?

Championship Challenge: John Hurst© vs. Doug Chase
king of savage title match. no rope breaks, no holds barred, 20 count on the floor.
Hurst arrogantly challenged Chase to start things off. Chase was apprehensive at first, but he eventually stepped up to the plate with some right hands that took Hurst off balance. He shot Hurst into the ropes and caught him with a shoulder block. 2! Chase brought Hurst back to his feet, Hurst slammed his fingers into Chase’s throat! Chase staggered back and Hurst followed in, choking him and pushing him into the corner. Chase fought back, managing to break free, but Hurst kneed Chase in the stomach and reapplied the choke. Chase grabbed the ropes, not fully aware that there are no rope breaks in a KoS match. Eventually, Chase’s energy began to flag. Hurst quickly hooked Chase up and DRILLED HIM WITH A BRAINBUSTER! The referee checked Chase out… out cold!
Winner: John Hurst by knockout (brainbuster, 3:40) [1º defense]

Hurst gloated after his successful defense until D.R. Kongo made his appearance, climbing into the ring. Kongo said that Hurst made him (Kongo) sick. If Hurst was such a great champion, why was he fighting men who have not logged a single win in their ALPHA careers? Kongo said that LFC was corrupt and needed to be torn down and rebuilt. And if none of the LIONS in the back could see that, then they were blind, stupid, and weak.

That brought out Nathan Rageous and Josh Cameron. When Kongo turned to fight them, Hurst clobbered Kongo over the head with the title! The three LIONS beat down on Kongo until Alexander Shaw ran down! Shaw hurled Rageous out of the ring, then traded shots with Hurst, clotheslining him over the top! Cameron grabbed Shaw in a rear waistlock and tried for the German, but Shaw hung onto the ropes. Kongo pulled Cameron away, STRONG KICK! Cameron rolled out of the ring. Shaw and Kongo dared the LIONS to get back in. Cameron and Rageous were cautious, but they climbed on the apron and Rageous got into the ring. Kongo got out onto the apron. Hurst headed to the back, shaking his head.

Furious Firefight: LIONS F.C. (Nathan Rageous and Josh Cameron) vs. Alexander Shaw & D.R. Kongo
Shaw went on the attack immediately, but Rageous was cautious, keeping his distance and minimizing the damage he took. Rageous tried to tag out to Cameron, but Shaw whipped him into the Shaw/Kongo corner and charged in with an elbow shot. Shaw and Kongo cut the ring in half, focusing their attack on Rageous’s neck. Cameron grew more agitated with every passing second. Shaw landed a vertical suplex and covered. Cameron entered the ring, but Kongo was there immediately to block. 2.5! Cameron and Kongo slugged it out, eventually tumbling out onto the floor. Inside the ring, Shaw continued his control of the bout, still working on Rageous’s neck. Rageous began to struggle, fighting to his feet and muscling Shaw over for a belly-to-belly suplex. Rageous waited for Shaw to get up, hit the ropes, SPEAR -- sidestepped!

Cameron took control on the floor, eventually throwing Kongo shoulder-first into the barricade. Shaw dropped Rageous with a reverse DDT. 2.5 -- broken up by Cameron! Cameron assaulted Shaw until the referee made him get out of the ring, then waited for the tag, which he got. Tandem suplex on Shaw! They went for a second, but Kongo got into the ring to stop them. Cameron and Rageous ejected Kongo and Rageous headed outside to deal with Kongo further, sending Kongo into the barricades repeatedly. Cameron controlled things on the inside, taking Shaw to the mat repeatedly and barely giving him a chance to breathe. Cameron attempted to gator roll choke repeatedly, but Shaw always managed to escape. Cameron looked for the osoto gari, but Shaw elbowed his way out. Elbow to the face! Another! ROARING ELBOW -- Cameron ducked! DUMPED HIM ON HIS HEAD WITH A GERMAN! 2.8!

Leaving Kongo laid out on the floor, Rageous got back up on the apron and Cameron tagged him in. They used their opportunity to the fullest, maximizing their team time and beating the hell out of Shaw at every opportunity. They tried for nearfalls frequently, but could never put him down. Shot Shaw into the ropes, TANDEM SPINEBUSTER! Rageous covered! Kongo scrambled onto the apron! 2.9 -- KONGO WITH THE SPRINGBOARD LEGDROP! Rageous grabbed his neck, rolling around in pain. Cameron went after Kongo, following him outside the ring, ATE A SUPERKICK! That took a lot out of Kongo apparently and everybody’s down.

Rageous got up first, shakily, though he still managed to pull Shaw up and set him into the corner. He hit a series of shoulder thrusts, then went to the opposite corner and measured Shaw up. CHARGING SPEAR -- Shaw stumbled out of the way, Rageous stopped himself before he hit the post! Shaw leapt for the tag, but Kongo wasn’t there yet! Rageous pulled Shaw back, locking on a grounded bear hug. After a battle, Shaw got to the ropes, and Rageous had to take a breather. Rageous made it to his corner and tagged Cameron in. They whipped Shaw into the ropes, TANDEM SPINEBUSTER -- Shaw slid underneath! Hot tag out to Kongo! Springboard kick took Cameron down! Rageous caught Kongo’s next kick, STRONG KICK! Rageous went down, but Kongo couldn’t capitalize! Cameron threw Kongo head-first into the turnbuckle! The referee ushered Cameron out of the ring. Rageous groggily got to his feet and made a cut-throat motion. POWERBOMB -- HURACANRANA! Cameron came for the save, Shaw blocked but couldn’t stop him! 3! A split-second too late!
Winner: Alexander Shaw & D.R. Kongo+ (huracanrana pin on Rageous, 21:18)

Shaw threw a STIFF elbow to the back of Cameron’s head! Hurst and Rodrigo De La Zed charged down to the ring, taking the fight to Shaw and Kongo. The two sides brawled, but Hurst and DLZ were well-rested and got the upper hand quickly. Shaw and Kongo tried to bail, but Hurst and DLZ followed, chasing them through the crowd!

ALPHA Primer 8.11.10

Primers

Give me ALPHA or give me death!

  • The explosive eight-man tag match at ALPHA 16 resulted in a victory for the LIONS Fight Club, but perhaps not all was lost for Alexander Shaw’s quest for the return King of Savage title match. An interesting proposition was offered by John Hurst after the eight-man war, and a clip of the post-match proceedings was posted to the ALPHA YouTube channel.
  • The “21st Century Superstar” Lex Fox was arguably the main reason that Shaw’s team failed in their efforts to defeat the LIONS Fight Club when Fox took Barron Ulysses out of the equation due to a vicious laptop attack. Fox has made his intentions clear: to be the first person to beat Ulysses in ALPHA by pinfall or submission. Now Fox has got the big man’s attention, so this week it’ll be Ulysses vs. Fox, one-on-one! Can Fox expose Ulysses for the n00b he really is, or will Ulysses overload Fox’s systems?
  • If the diverted attention of Barron Ulysses wasn’t enough bad news for Shaw’s crusade, Dash Springfield will be out of town this week as he heads to the Atlantic Wrestling Club to take on Jonathan Carcer for the Just Wrestling Championship. We at ALPHA wish Dash luck in what may be the biggest match of his young career.
  • Though shorthanded, Alexander Shaw and D.R. Kongo are not backing down from a fight! This week, they’ll be taking on LIONS Fight Club warriors Nathan Rageous and Josh Cameron in tag competition. The issue between Kongo and Cameron has been growing for weeks and both men are eager to get their hands on one another and settle this feud between LFC trainees. “They’ve all been saying that I’m not fit to be a LION,” Kongo said bitterly. “But all I’ve seen out of them is duplicity. Cowardice. Gang tactics. Which of them is man enough to stand up, one-on-one, and fight for themselves? When are they gonna stop covering for Hurst and see how much they’ve been cheapened?”
  • Surf’s up! Byron Maloka and Brian Jackson have been brought together in their conflict with the Royal Lancers (acting under the orders of Chandra Taylor), and this week they have registered themselves as a tag team with the ALPHA head office. Calling themselves the Surf Ninjas, this team will make its official debut against the pairing of Javier Sikkan and teen sensation Maurice Thompson!
  • In other Byron Maloka news, his crowd-diving antics have once again netted him a fine from Red Mountain Casino brass, this time to the tune of $600. Fortunately for Maloka, his Danger Kid Fund came to the rescue, paying the fine in record time (for him). Unfortunately for him, RMC spokeswoman Chandra Taylor has vowed that Maloka will pay in other ways. We expect this means that the Mathers brothers will have some more work to do in putting down Maloka’s recklessness.
  • Though King of Savage John Hurst will not be defending his title against Alexander Shaw this week, he has promised that his belt will be on the line! “If anybody doubts whether or not I will be a fighting champion, let me put those doubters to rest,” Hurst said from Camp Savage. “I’ve already proved that I am the best in ALPHA today, but I will continue to do so as often as proof is required.” No word yet on who the challenger will be, though Anton Assault has assured us that they have a worthy challenger lined up.
  • For the second week in a row, a new signing will make himself known in the ALPHA ring. Kevin Alloy has signed a freelance contract with ALPHA and he’ll be taking on Jake Landell in his debut contest this Saturday at ALPHA 17. But, before turning his attention onto Landell, Alloy had some words for ALPHA at large and announced his less-than-peaceable intentions on YouTube.
  • Coming to pay-per-view this weekend, Saturday, August 14th, it’s ALPHA 17: The First Defense! John Hurst puts his title on the line! The war between Shaw’s squadron and LIONS Fight Club rages on! Will grudges be settled? Will tempers continue to boil? Will we have a new King of Savage? Despite all the questions, there is one sure thing: ALPHA 17 will feature more than an hour of the absolute pinnacle in wrestling action! It’s only $7.99, so call 1 800 MOD ERNV or visit www.modernvision.com to order NOW!
